It has been too long since I’ve done a good old fashioned trend alert post. Obviously, I talk about trends in pretty much all of my posts, but specifically calling out a trend hasn’t happened enough lately. My apologies. I’m making up for it today with one of my favorite trends for spring and summer: raw edge denim.

Now, I’m going to preface this by saying I’m completely omitting cutoff shorts from this post. They clearly have raw edges because they are cutoffs (duh), but jean shorts call for their own dedicated blog post. One that requires extensive research on my behalf since a good pair of denim shorts are probably my #1 summer essential. Now onto the frayed goodness.
This off the shoulder (OTS) top with frayed edges came straight from the clearance rack at Nordstrom Rack for a whopping $7. I only stopped in Rack to do a return and accidentally stumbled upon this beauty, which was patiently waiting for me to give it a home in my closet. I didn’t even try on, knowing it was perfect from the moment I saw it. It was. I love the color, raw edge details and the fact it will match with all kinds of cute jeans or shorts this summer.
As far as the rest of my outfit goes, my sandals are from Target, my white jeans are by Paige denim, my sunglasses are from LOFT, my watch is DW and my earrings are from BaubleBar.
Unfortunately, my exact top was nowhere to be found online, so I scoped out a few other goodies rocking the frayed trend that are available for purchase. I came across this OTS top from Nordstrom, which is pretty similar to the one I’m wearing in these photos. The light wash totally works for spring and summer.
If you are looking for a dress instead, I found this medium wash OTS dress, which is on sale for only $30. The darker wash one isn’t on sale, but I love how the edges have that unraveled look to them.
If you aren’t into the whole off-the-shoulder trend which is EVERYWHERE right now, I’m also a big fan of this Madewell shirt dress. I love a good chambray dress and this one has my name all over it.
As far as jeans go, I love a good raw denim edge at the bottom. I’m a huge fan of Paige jeans and own the Hoxton style of jeans in a blue wash. These are even better because of the details on the bottom.
Distressed jeans have been big for a while now, so it really isn’t surprising to see the bottoms cut off as well. I like this pair of frayed denim because they aren’t too expensive and the little bit of fringe is really fun. Only a couple sizes left, but Nordstrom is known to randomly restock from time to time.
Finally, I couldn’t resist including this pair of frayed denim for those of you who aren’t afraid of a little fringe. I keep seeing these long fringe denim all over Instagram and I’ll admit, I totally want a pair. I can’t decide if it is worth splurging right now since it is already so hot in Arizona, but I do love the details. These are by Top Shop and they come in a few different lengths.
Are you a fan of the raw edge trend or do you prefer a more polished look?
I love this look so much! The raw edge is so fun.
I love this whole outfit but those sandals are especially cute!!
