Oh my goodness you guys. I’m home from the absolute craziness that was New York Fashion Week. It was a total dream and more fun than I thought it would be. I’m so excited to recap NYFW Day 1 for you.

Before I dive into the specifics of my first day, I want to talk briefly about fashion week in general. I’ve always dreamed of attending fashion week. I don’t know if it was too many hours on the couch watching Sex and the City, Top Model or Gossip Girl, but it was one of those bucket list items for me. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would happen since fashion week tends to be an industry-only event. Tickets are generally not available to the public unless you know someone in the industry. It is crazy to me that designers wanted me at their shows. After all, I’m just a mom who loves to shop. Total pinch me experience!
Travel outfit: Chambray tie front top, Zella leggings, gold mules, Tory Burch bag
Day 1 (Thursday) was a short day for me. I traveled all the way across country which pretty much eats up the entire day with the time difference. I originally planned to just hang out with a friend and chill that night. Well, until a PR company reached out to me offering front row tickets to a show. FRONT ROW TICKETS FOR NYFW?! I thought only celebrities got those. Total dream. I didn’t have a lot of time after my flight landed to get to the show so I attempted to do my makeup in the taxi from the airport. After all, I’m not a beauty blogger so I did my best and prayed I didn’t look like a clown. I dropped my bags at the hotel, quickly changed and grabbed an Uber to the show.
Fashion show outfit: Free People tunic, black slip, feather earrings (similar), black bootie heels
The show I attended was actually featuring two different designers: Aranyani (men’s and women’s bags) and KavenLiu Dimor (women’s clothing). It was held in an industrial space in Chelsea just down the street from Chelsea Market. I checked in with the desk and took a huge commercial elevator up to the show space. They handed me a front row seating assignment, I took a few pictures with a fellow blogger and then waited for the show to start.
I absolutely loved the Aranyani bags. Most of them were dark leathers mixed with fun colors and metal accents. Totally something I would wear! The KavenLiu Dimor line was also stunning with a lot of soft, feminine materials and colors. Out of all the shows I went to, this one had the most wearable pieces in my opinion.
Outfit details: Cream lace dress, rainbow rhinestone earrings, black bootie heels (similar, mine just sold out), burgundy Tory Burch bag (similar)
After the show, I got another Uber back to the hotel to meet up with the rest of the group. Side note: I spent the most money this weekend in transportation. Getting from point A to point B was time consuming and expensive! I also decided I was ready for an outfit change. After all this is Fashion Week and no one wants to wear the same thing for too long. This lace OTS smocked dress was just the piece for hitting the town.
We ended up grabbing Mexican food at Dos Caminos in Times Square, which happens to have the best guacamole ever. I live in AZ and regularly consume guac so this means something coming from me. By the time we got to the restaurant it was late (like super late – 11:30 pm), but we were all so excited to be there that it didn’t really matter. After dinner, we decided to head to a nightclub for a bit, even though it was hours past my bedtime. We went to Vandal in the East Village, which to be honest, wasn’t exactly my scene. I felt like a grandma in a room full of college kids. We hung for a bit but ended up calling it a night. And by night I mean almost morning because it was around 3am by the time we got back to the hotel. Mama is too old for this stuff! We grabbed a few hours sleep before starting Day 2.
To be continued…
How fun, looks like your first day of NYFW was really nice. I can understand you are spending most times getting from one place to another 🙂 Your outfits look great as well 🙂
