Splurge vs. Steal

As an avid blog reader, I’ve always loved splurge vs. steal posts. It is so fun to see what people can find that resembles designer duds for a fraction of the price. Obviously, I support the fancy name-brand designers, but my checking account (and my husband) prefer the knock-off prices.  And in my world, there is absolutely nothing wrong than a knock-off. Especially a good knock-off that really captures the style for a bargain.

I’ve come across a few steals lately that really tempted me. And since I’m such a good friend, I couldn’t resist sharing these with you. #peerpressure

Splurge: Toms Desert Wedge Bootie in Natural ($89.95)

Steal: Groopdealz Fall Bootie in Chestnut ($24.99)

I’ve been eyeing a pair of suede booties for a while. I’m still not sure I’m cool enough to pull these off come fall, but I’m thinking about it. I actually first blogged about this pair of Toms during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and they obviously haven’t left my brain just yet. So when I saw the knock-off pair on Groopdealz, I’ll admit, the price was tempting since I’m not positive it is my look just yet.

Splurge: Kate Spade Secret Garden Earrings ($68.00)

Steal: Target Button Earrings ($7.99)

I’ve seen these button earrings all over the internet lately and I was shocked when I found the Target replica. I’ll be honest, I absolutely could not justify paying $68 for something so simple. Target, you already had my heart before these earrings, but you get a round of applause for this one.

PicMonkey Collage - totes

Splurge: Tory Burch Block T Tote ($450.00)

Steal: Nordstrom Street Level Reversible Faux Leather Tote ($48.00)

Ahhh, a navy blue bag. Be still my heart. Over the last few years, I’ve become quite obsessed with navy blue. I used to struggle with navy because it never felt like it went all that great with black or brown, and then I realized that was my problem all along. It doesn’t need to go with either (although it can go with both). It is a great REPLACEMENT for black or brown. A new neutral?? Yes, I’m in love.

So if you are looking to replace an old black or brown tote, a navy one is the perfect choice. I love this Tory Burch T tote, but I hate the price. Now, the price of the Nordstrom tote I can get behind. My sister-in-law (hi, Laura!) first introduced me to this particular bag last year. Not only is it a great price, it is reversible (the inside is a different color) AND comes with a wristlet. That’s seriously like a 3-for-1 deal. It also comes in 8 different colors combos, so figure you could buy all 8 of them and still have $50 to spare compared to the Tory Burch option. Not that you should do that (that might be a tad big excessive, even for me), but you could.  Yes, the bag is faux leather, but you’d honestly never know it. It is gorgeous and the pops of color on the inside are adorable. If you need a new tote, don’t hesitate and go for this one.

Old Navy and Lululemon capris

Splurge: Lululemon Wunder Under Crops ($82.00)

Steal: Old Navy Go-Dry Compression Crops ($22.90 using code EXTRA)

You all know I have a serious obsession with lululemon. Let me start out by saying I’d never pay $82 for crops. Almost everything there goes on sale if you can wait long enough. However, if you were to go out and buy a pair of heathered wunder unders today, they would cost you $82. Now the Old Navy pants aren’t going to have the exact same fit or material, but man, do they look similar. If you don’t spend as much time in leggings as I do, I’d highly encourage you to go for the Old Navy version.
