Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Nobody wants to be the one to forget your mom on Mother’s Day.

Mark your calendars now: May 10th is the big day this year. Take this post as a personal reminder to avoid being “that kid”.

The good news is you still have plenty of time to get shopping. And if you are anything like me, shopping for mom gifts gets me excited. Dad gifts are a whole different story. We will talk about that in June. #procrastination

Here are my mom gift picks for this year:

Mothers Day

Since I became a mom in 2012, Mother’s Day has really taken on a whole new meaning. I now understand how much love exists between a mom and her kids. Those little people are so much fun, but SO much work.

It really isn’t about the gifts at all. But I’ll admit, some kind of “thank you” is amazing. This year, I believe I deserve a “thank you” for the following:

Thank you for getting up with me every night for the past 6 months.

Thank you for cleaning up my dinner after I threw it on the floor. Without eating a bite.

Thank you for folding the mounds of laundry I create each week.

A thank you doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. A hand-made card, framed picture or flowers are all as sweet as can be.

tulips

Tulips have always been a personal favorite of mine. They are inexpensive, in-season and brings an instant smile to our faces. And if you aren’t a planner and don’t order gifts weeks in advance, every grocery store sells flowers. Score.

Tory Burch

Another thing that brings a smile to my face are Tory Burch shoes. I might have a problem when it comes to Tory Burch sandals. I’m a little (a lot) obsessed. This Moore Flat Thong Sandal is pricey, but I can guarantee every mom out there would love them and wear the heck out of them. Through my extensive research, I’ve found Tory Burch sandals run true to size and are amazing quality. Every year, I swear I’m going to try and find a new favorite flip flop brand, and every year I’m back on the Tory Burch website admiring the new styles. I might have a problem, but at least I can admit it.

Scarf

I’ve always loved thin scarves and wear them year-round. Maybe because I live in the desert and don’t need the warmth, but a thin scarf like this one always completes the outfit, is easy to wear and screams “spring”. The best part: this one from Target is only $15. AND they have a buy one, get one 50% sale going on. Two scarves for under $25?!? Love.

West elm

How cute are these storage boxes from West Elm? Perfect for jewelry, a little sewing kit or other accessories. And they come in two different sizes. I bet these would look cute on my dresser!

This Cedar Street Maise Kate Spade bag is a bit of a splurge, but isn’t it gorg? I love the option of the cross-body strap and the color is just perfect. And it is the perfect size for stashing mom supplies (matchbox cars, fruit snacks, or hand wipes). All the moms out there know exactly what I’m talking about.

Kendra scott

I love the Sandra pendant necklace by Kendra Scott. The light pink color is very girly, and the long necklaces by Kendra Scott always hit me at just the right length. If you’ve never placed an order before on kendrascott.com, you can also get 15% off if you provide them with your email address.

I’m sure any of the items on my list would help secure a spot at the top of your mom’s “Favorite Child” list. She may never admit it, but you’ll know the truth.

And to all the mom’s out there, thank you for all you do. If it was up to me, we would all have Tory Burch sandals waiting for us on May 10th.
