Chances are by now you know Nordstrom has their big Anniversary Sale going on right now. I basically started my blog because of my slight obsession with sale shopping, so I pretty much live for stuff like this. I wrote a post last week talking about my favorite items from the sale (read it here), but now I’m sharing exactly what I purchased myself.

Every year when the sale starts, I try to do a quick inventory of stuff I already own. I know some bloggers basically replace their entire fall wardrobe with this sale alone, but I really try hard to be, ahem, sensible with my purchases. And who really has thousands of dollars to blow on sweaters or boots?! Not me, that’s for sure. We are renovating our house right now so I focused on buying a few basics that I knew I’d wear over and over. I already own wayyy too many pairs of boots and booties so I resisted buying any of those at all (admittedly, that was tough for me). I’m still debating a few additional purchases, but for now, here’s what I bought.
My absolute favorite purchase is this fleece jacket, which of course sold out online right away (the 1/4 zip version here is still available for purchase). I badly wanted one of these last winter, but by the time I decided I needed to own one, it was already in the 70’s in Arizona. This year I wasn’t going to make that mistake and wait too long. This jacket isn’t one of those purchases that I truly “needed”, but I crave cozy items like this one. I already wore it the last two nights while sitting on the patio in LA. It does run a tad big so size down if you can. Also, make sure to keep checking back because Nordstrom does restock items periodically throughout the sale.
I’ve been loving all the old school Adidas and Nike items that are popping up all over the place. I spend a good majority of my time in workout clothes so this $21 Adidas tank top was an easy one for me to justify. I went with a size small in this top. One thing to note – it is a tiny bit thin/ see through. That doesn’t bother me at all, but I wanted to point it out in case you prefer a little more coverage (this one might be a better option for you). I wore this to workout on Friday and it has good breathability (is that a word?!). I love it.
Those of you who follow me on Instagram already saw this ASTR dress on Friday. You guys, it is SO GOOD. It’s made out of comfortable crepe material that doesn’t wrinkle easily and is so easy to wear. I dressed it up with a pair of heels, but you can easily dress this down with flats as well. One thing to note – it is actually a super dark navy with black trim (admittedly, I thought it was black when I bought it). I love the contrast and like it better this way just because it is a tiny spin on the typical LBD. We all need to own this one since it is only $44.
As soon as I saw this $20 long sleeve striped tee, I knew it was coming home with me. The colors are so cheery, yet fall, and a simple top like this can be worn anywhere. I wore this to dinner on Friday night with jean shorts, but it would look adorable under a jacket (see my fleece picture above) or a sweater. This same tee comes in a bunch of colors, but I love the stripes. It was a tiny bit long on me (I’m wearing a regular length), but a petite size is available online.
Finally, this sale is a good one to stock up on basics. I originally grabbed this cami with a bottom ruffle in black, but put it back and decided to go with it in teal. I have so many black tank tops and this color is perfect to wear now and for fall. It doesn’t hurt it is also only $15!
I’ll admit, I’m still thinking about buying another item or two, but I’m doing my absolute best to get carried away with so many cute things for sale. Check out this post for my full list of favorites. What did you buy from the sale? Don’t forget, it opens to the public on Friday!
