I’ve been a long-time fan of kimonos. They give me that perfect layered, boho-chic look without all the bulk. I love them this time of year when I’m craving sweaters, but that is completely impractical in the desert. Even when it is 105 degrees outside, I can still wear a kimono and avoid sweating. Well, maybe minimal sweating. I do live in an oven.
I truly believe kimonos are the perfect piece to help transition from summer to fall. Wear them with shorts, jeans or even over a simple dress. Kimonos have become my go-to when I know there is a chance it will be cool (airplanes, movie theaters) but I don’t want to tote around a jacket. I now have quite the kimono collection and this ivory fringe kimono is my latest addition. It is one-size-fits-all and I believe it should work for anyone size S-L. Plus the under $20 price tag isn’t too shabby. I’m also a big fan of this one and this one.
I recently wore this ivory kimono out to dinner with my family. It was so easy to throw on with jeans and a simple black tank and give me that effortless chic look. And because I know someone will ask, my clutch is the Taj clutch from Stella and Dot and my black fringe booties are from last year (similar here and here).
My kimonos always attract compliments and I personally feel like it is an under-utilized fashion trend. In fact, I had to check 7-8 of my favorite online stores before I found a dozen or so kimonos to share with you today. Use the arrows on the widget below to scroll through a few of my favorites.
Are you a fan of kimonos? Where do you find yours? You know, asking for a friend.

Just the perfect outfit for the summer. What I love about kimonos, you can still wear them on Fall and it’s a good transaction garment between season.s
