I’ve spent the last week and a half visiting family in Ohio and Michigan. We decided to squeeze in one more last-minute trip to the Midwest to see all the grandparents before my kiddos start school next week. We lucked out with daily highs anywhere between 60 – 80 degrees with minimal rain and humidity. It was perfect.
I’ve been slacking a bit on the blog over the last week or two, mainly because I’ve been too busy doing typical summer stuff. Swimming, fishing, going to amusement parks and checking out just about every kid activity in Northwestern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan. We’ve had a blast. Because we’ve been too busy enjoying the last few days of summer, this post ended up being a nice little round-up of my favorite outfits from my trip to the Midwest. Most of these are perfect transition pieces as the weather cools down for most of the country. You know, everywhere except good old AZ. But that’s another discussion for another day. Let’s get to the clothes.

How cute is this black embroidered t-shirt dress (C/O Romwe)? I love a good t-shirt dress. Comfortable, loose fitting and easy to dress up or down. The embroidery on this one is absolutely beautiful and looks like something from Anthropologie at a much lower price. Warning for tall people (aka not me), this dress is a tad bit short. It works for me since I’m only 5’3″, but I had to be careful when picking up my kiddos. I still love it and will be wearing it constantly over the next couple months. Wouldn’t this be so cute with black booties and a jean jacket?!
Those of you who follow me on Instagram got a sneak peek of this outfit a couple days ago. My floral top and booties are both from Groopdealz (C/O), which is one of my favorite places to shop when I’m looking for inexpensive, trendy items. Stuff that is hot right now, but probably won’t be in a couple years (aka, not worth making a huge designer investment). The deals change daily so if these items aren’t currently available on the site, keep checking back. Use code AUG10 for 10% off your order.
My jeans are from NYDJ and are seriously the most comfortable pair of denim in my closet. They are perfectly stretchy and fit almost like a pair of leggings. I’m wearing a petite size so they hit me right above my ankles. If you are looking for a new pair of jeans, consider these!! They do run big so make sure to order down at least 1-2 sizes. I’m wearing two sizes smaller than my usual size. Ridiculous, but it does make me feel good when I put them on!
While we are on the topic of shoes, let’s talk about these cheetah slip-on sneakers. They have the cutest tassel detail, fit true-to-size, and are such a statement piece. I’ve had multiple people stop me in my tracks just to comment on my shoes. Wearing them with my NYDJ jeans and a simple black cold shoulder tank made this outfit the easiest and most comfortable of the week. Pretty sure this will become my new momiform for back to school next week.
I love a good white shirt and this off the shoulder top with bell sleeves (C/O Romwe) is absolutely adorable. Giant sleeves are going to be huge for fall so this top is perfectly on trend. It does run big, so make sure to size down. I styled this top with a pair of distressed jeans (similar here) and these Vince Camuto booties.
Comfortable off the shoulder tops and denim have become one of my favorite pairings lately. Perfect for fishing with the kids or school drop off and pick-up. I’m all about looking cute and being comfortable (really, who isn’t?!) so this outfit is totally me. Outfit deets: top (similar here), jean shorts (similar here), sandals (exact here) and bag (similar here)
Is it cooling down at all where you live? I’m heading back to the Arizona oven today so I’m glad I got to enjoy a few cooler days. Happy Wednesday!!
