5 Easy Ways to Transition Your Outfit for Spring

Spring Fashion Outfit Ideas

I don’t know about you, but I’ve officially reached the point in the year where I’m over my winter wardrobe. My sweaters have been worn over and over and I feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of my boots. Even though the first official day of spring isn’t until March 20, the stores are full of bright colors and swimsuits are everywhere. I’m one of the lucky ones who lives in a warm climate (don’t hate me), but I grew up in Ohio and fully understand some of you still have a couple months of coats and boots ahead. I came up with this list of a few easy ideas to transition your outfit to spring, even if it still feels like winter outside.

Pink purple plaid top

1) Brighten up your color scheme – While burgundy, navy and forest green are perfect for fall and winter, those dark colors can really make winter feel like it is dragging on. Swapping burgundy for pink, forest green for mint or navy for a brighter blue will really brighten your entire outfit (and hopefully your mood). My exact plaid shirt in the picture above is old, but I’m a big fan of this similar top from J. Crew. It is on sale, too!

   Open toe booties

2) Work those booties – Over-the-knee and riding boots were both super popular this year, but those tall boots do tend to look a little heavy. Throw on booties with a dress or even let your ankles breathe when wearing a pair of jeans. Even consider letting your toes peek out with a peep toe bootie like these from Vince Camuto (bonus, they are 33% off!).

white denim

3) Whiten up – I naturally gravitate to black in the winter, and this is the time of year when I love swapping the black for white. Throw on some white jeans, a sweater or even a simple white t-shirt and you’ll instantly transform your entire outfit. I own a pair of white jeans similar to this pair by Paige Denim, and I also like this white pair from Old Navy for a more affordable option.

Embroidered tassel scarf

4) Pack away the heavy scarves – I’m a huge fan of scarves and love wearing them year-round. Even if you still need a scarf for warmth, pack away the wool and swap it for a light-weight version. You can easily wear it with a heavy winter coat, but it will make you feel spring-y. I’m kind of in love with this embroidered tassel scarf.

5) Blush it up – I’d say that blush pink is one of the hottest colors in fashion right now. Find anything pastel pink and wear it (nail polish, a scarf, top or jewelry) and you’ll instantly be trend-ready come March. This light pink button down top would look great with jeans, shorts or even a black pencil skirt for the office (and it is only $22).

Round sunglasses

Also, in case you didn’t know, I have a giveaway going on right now on Instagram for this awesome pair of black round sunglasses by Colossein. This giveaway is super easy to enter (all you have to do is follow two accounts) so why not start spring with a new pair of sunnies. Giveaway ends on 2/8/2017 at 8 AM MST.

Are you still in winter wardrobe mode or are you ready for spring?
