Splurge vs. Steal: Open Toe Booties

splurge-vs-steal

Did you catch my post a few weeks ago about the open toe bootie trend? I was talking to my mom about it the other day and she mentioned she decided to spring for a pair, even though she won’t get much use out of them in a few months when it it is cold and snowy (she lives in Ohio). I personally love this look, but I think my mom is right. This one might be a short-lived trend that disappears by Christmas.

Therefore, this is a perfect one to skip the expensive designers and go for a knock-off. And who doesn’t love a good splurge vs. steal? Can you tell from the picture above which is cheaper? Hint: it is the pair on the right.

I was doing a little outlet shopping this past weekend and came across this pair of open toe sling back booties at Gap Factory. They were on sale and I had an email coupon, which brought them down to $30!! Only the black pair is available online, but I went for a gorgeous cognac brown pair which is available in the store. Don’t they look a lot like these:

I originally talked about this Lucky pair in my Trend Alert post a few weeks back. They are beautiful, but they are also $108!! Now, here’s the difference. The pair I bought aren’t real leather, but they sure look like it in person. The heels aren’t real wood, but also look pretty darn close. They are surprisingly comfortable and cost almost $80 less than the pair at Nordstrom!!! Pretty great deal, especially if you know you won’t be wearing these day in and day out.

What do you think? Are these worth the splurge?
