Trend Alert: Boots

I don’t know if I can really call boots a trend since they are pretty much a standard winter staple, but the styles do tend to change as the years pass us by. Winter boots have come a long way in the last decade. We used to slip into our Uggs and forget about style for the winter months, but times have changed. There are a ton of cute boots out this year that are definitely more appealing to the eye. No judgment though, I can absolutely still be caught sporting my Uggs on a periodic basis. I’m not sure it gets more comfortable than the shearling goodness inside a pair of Uggs…

My favorite boots for Fall 2015 (1)

As you can tell by my really cool collage I created above (the kids took an extra long nap today, score!!!), I love a mix of booties and knee-high boots for this year. I know some people out there are fans of the over-the-knee style, but honestly, it is just not for me. Regardless of how casual the style, I can’t help but think of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Anyone else with me? Since I prefer to keep my footwear, well, near my feet and away from my torso, here are my favorite boots for this fall and winter:

If I had to pick a favorite boot of the season, I think it would have to be these Vince Camuto Kolton boots. They have a slight southwestern, cowboy boot look to them, but could easily be worn in the city, miles and miles away from the closest farm. I absolutely adore cognac color boots because I personally think they look best with jeans or leggings. However, if cognac isn’t your thing, they also come in black and are also available in wide calf. These are 33% off right now for $149.90 (originally $228.95).

If a more traditional riding boot is more your style, then maybe you will love these Lucky riding boots in chipmunk as much as I do. Yes, that is actually the name of the color and not my mind wandering off to outdoor wildlife. They also come in tan and black, as well as wide calf. They are currently 33% off at Nordstrom at $139.90 (originally $208.95).

If money were no object, I’d absolutely go for the Tory Burch Junction boots. They are on sale for $339 (originally $495), but that is quite an investment for a pair of boots. However, if you live somewhere cold and would wear them constantly, it might be worth the investment. They are also available in a brown color Tory refers to as “almond”, as well as extended calf. Let’s just say given the complete lack of winter in Phoenix, I won’t be investing in these boots. But it doesn’t mean I can’t be jealous of those of you who do. #bootenvy #iworeflipflopstoday

To round out my knee-high boot picks, don’t these Hunter boots with a shearling cuff look warm? These would be my ideal sledding, snow shoveling, tailgating and snowman building boots. Waterproof, super warm and totally on trend. They aren’t on sale at $295, but can you really put a price on frostbite prevention?

Now, onto booties. I’ve been eyeing the traditional Toms booties for ages and recently spotted this slightly updated version with a side zipper. Who really has time to deal with laces anyways?  A wedge heel is always a hit in my book and the slight tassel on the zipper pull is perfect. I found the tan crocodile pair on sale on the Toms website for $95.20 (originally $119) and the grey pair, which is also available in black, for $76.36 (originally $97.95). Pair these suckers with skinny jeans and a plaid shirt and you have my perfect look for fall 2015.

A ton of the booties I came across this year are suede. If suede isn’t your thing, maybe these Madewell boots are for you. The chestnut color is my favorite, but they are also available in black. These are currently $238 and not on sale, but if you can wait until the holidays to buy them, I’m sure the price will drop. Sometimes sale shopping does require a bit of patience.

If you love the look of the Madewell pair but hate the price, go for these Old Navy sueded booties. They are seriously so close in style to the Madewell ones above, but they are literally 1/8 the price. Using code AUTUMN takes 30% off which brings them down to $30.05. Yes, $30 for a pair of super cute and right on trend boots. Sizes are starting to get picked over online but you could always try your local store as well. I like the olive color shown above, but they are also available in black. Don’t hesitate on these because I bet they will go fast.

Finally, these black suede stiletto booties are absolutely perfect for work or a holiday cocktail party. They would look amazing with black tights and a dress or fancy pants. Use code SHOPSALE to bring them down to $153.99 (originally $298).

Have you found any other amazing boots to keep your toes warm this winter?
