I absolutely love the 4th of July. It has always been one of my favorite holidays for so many reasons. The BBQs, fireworks and patriotic clothing are right up my alley. No need to be fancy or make elaborate plans. The 4th of July is all about fun and it should be no surprise I’ll be celebrating in red, white and blue.

I’m so excited about the 4th of July this year because we will be spending it on the beach in California. We will start the day with a parade, play in the sand and end it with fireworks over the ocean. It doesn’t get more American than that, does it?!
As you guys know, we are renovating our house and decided to spend a few weeks away from Arizona while they do the demo. Over the last week, we’ve been settling into our beach house and getting to know the area. There is something about the beach in California that feels like the perfect place to spend the 4th. Especially when we see red, white and blue flags everywhere we look.
I wasn’t surprised to learn first-hand that LA traffic is brutal. Especially on weekends, we were told to avoid driving as much as possible. We made a trip to Hollywood this past weekend and it took us an hour and a half to go about 10 miles. It was worth the trip to go hiking around the Hollywood sign, but I won’t be doing it again next weekend. Therefore, bikes are going to be our go-to form of transportation from here on out.
