The Secret to Looking Cool: Wear Black on Black

I can think of a lot of words I’d use to describe myself. Most are positive, a few are not-so-good, but “cool” is probably not one of them. I mean, a mom in her 30’s who regularly talks about things like plaid, tassels and pom poms isn’t exactly the definition of cool. But when I wear black on black outfits like this one, I feel cool. Especially when I’m not smiling in a picture. We all know that doesn’t happen very often.

I’ve noticed I’ve been wearing a lot of neutral colors lately. I’m over the festive holiday colors and am not quite ready to pull out the spring pastels just yet. Enter black outfits like this one. Black never goes out of style, so investing in good black basics is always a good idea. Especially when the seasons can’t quite make up their mind.

Back in my office job days, I think I wore black pants and black heels to work 95% of the time. Usually with a black cardigan on top. Always professional, in style and chic. A good chunk of my wardrobe still consists of black pieces, but for some odd reason, I don’t feel like they make it on my blog often enough. Sometimes I think I end up viewing my basics as boring, when really they are usually my favorite things to wear. This outfit is one of them.
