I don’t know about you, but one thing that I find really hard to buy is a dressy top. You know, not a t-shirt, not a sweater, and not a dress. I have plenty occasions where I’d really like to wear either jeans or shorts with something nicer on top. I suppose you could call them blouses, but I also struggle with that term. A blouse is something my grandma used to wear. Am I old enough to wear a blouse? #probably
Full disclosure: I do not own any of these tops. I’ve never seen them in person, nor tried them on, so there is a slight chance they are terrible in person. We all know that is a possibility when shopping online.
Here are a few cute tops that caught my eye. I realize all aren’t super dressy, but they are leaps and bounds above the boring old t-shirts I wear on a daily basis.
Embroidery and tassels?!?! I’m in love with this printed embroidered top from J. Crew Factory. I could totally picture this with white jeans or shorts, or maybe even tucked into a navy pencil skirt for work. This top also comes in green/yellow, but I personally prefer the blue and coral color combo. Right now it is 40% off for $41.50 (originally $69.50). Pretty sure I need to own this one.
This super lightweight gauze plaid popover is perfect for spring. Wear the sleeves long on cooler days or roll them up when it is warm. It would go perfectly with jeans or shorts, but might not be dressy enough for those of you who work in an office. It is also 40% off at $38.50 (originally 64.50).
I’m obsessed with the tassels on the bottom of this swing tank. I love a classic white shirt, but it is hard to find a good one. I have a feeling this is one I would need to try on and see if the material is thick enough (aka not see-through), but it might be worth the effort because using code SAVESHIP it is only $18.20 (originally $26.94).
One of my all-time favorite color combos is grey and white. This top also comes in light pink, but I prefer the grey. This top is really versatile because I could see it looking great under a black suit, worn with jeans or even shorts. Super easy to dress up or down. This embroidered tank comes down to only $20.97 (originally $44.95) using code NOW. Only a couple sizes left so I’d act quickly if this one catches your eye.
I got a ton of compliments on my Lilly Pulitzer dress I purchased for Easter (and I’ve worn it 3x since. Woo hoo!). A bunch of my friends told me they loved the pattern, but could never pull off something with this much color. I absolutely disagree. I personally think everyone looks great in bright colors, and this top would be no different. This Betsy cap sleeve top is $50 (not bad for Lilly) and it got rave reviews on the site. If this top doesn’t scream Spring (and Summer), I don’t know what does.
Finally, who doesn’t like a floral pattern in Spring? This floral halter by Splendid isn’t exactly a steal at $86, but it is better than paying full price ($108). I could see a lightweight sweater or jacket thrown on over this one for cooler days.
Do you also struggle with dressy tops? Any favorite stores I’m missing?
