I was scrolling through my Instagram the other day ago and realized a lot of my photos show me wearing maxi dresses. Here’s the thing. I’m 5’3″ on a good day and used to think short people like me couldn’t pull off a long dress. Now, I can’t get enough. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite maxi dresses that are petite friendly.

Before I go much further, I want to talk about my height. Like I said, I’m 5’3″. But for some odd reason, people online always think I look a lot taller in photos. Apparently my shortness doesn’t translate in photos. I’m always shocked when people meet me in person and immediately comment on how short I am.
I played volleyball in high school and spent spent years lying about (ahem, slightly exaggerating) my height. It’s worth mentioning because I’m convinced clothing designers realized they were missing out big time on the petite maxi dress market. All of a sudden, I’ve found so many cute maxi dresses that couldn’t fit me better. Here are a few good ones for those of you who can relate to being vertically challenged.

If I had to pick one maxi that is the most comfortable in my closet, it is this yellow floral maxi dress. In fact, I loved it so much, I grabbed it in two different patterns. The tiers are super fun and flirty, the straps are adjustable (meaning this is also a good one for those of you who might be taller) and the color is so fun. I’m positive you guys will love this one.

Does this white floral maxi dress look familiar at all? Yep, exact same dress as the one above. I just love it. I’m wearing the S-M size in both dresses and the fit couldn’t be more perfect.

You guys might remember this dress from a try-on session I did with a small local boutique called Willow Bloom. The adorable owner, Angie, has such an eye for style and only buys quality items for her boutique. I wore this dress on Mother’s Day and am coming up with excuses to wear it again. This one did require wedges, but I’d still call it petite friendly.

I’m a sucker for color so this red smocked maxi dress totally called my name. I love the smocking around the chest, which makes it comfortable and flirty. The skirt has a little ruffle around the bottom and it works with a normal strapless bra. A bit of a splurge but worth every penny.

The last one is another Amazon find, which I can tell you guys are loving. It is a smidge long on me, but that’s nothing a little knot at the bottom couldn’t fix. This dress comes in a million colors and could easily be worn with wedges if the knot isn’t your thing. I promise, you won’t regret buying this one.
