Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! As most do on Thanksgiving, today I’ll be counting my many blessings, eating an unknown (but likely ridiculous) amount of calories, and enjoy spending time with my family. We are actually en route to Breckenridge, CO and will be celebrating there all weekend long with my husband’s siblings and their families. However, for those of you who are looking to make some progress on your holiday shopping, I’m also sharing some pointers for one-stop holiday discount shopping in Phoenix.
First things first, I want to take a second to talk about what I’m thankful for this year. There are the obvious, but most important things: my amazing husband, our two wonderful kids, our extended family, our health and home. I can’t tell you how many conversations I’ve had with my kids this week to try to explain to them how dang lucky we really are. At the ages of 3 and 5, I don’t think they truly understand, but I pray I can raise two caring, kind and humble human beings.
I’m also extremely thankful for all of you, as well as all the amazing brands I’ve been blessed to work with this year. I never thought my little shopping blog would have grown to where it is today, and I truly appreciate every single blog post view, like on Instagram, and person who clicked that little follow button. I can’t even express how thankful I truly am. I have the most fun job in the world and am blessed to still get to spend every single day with my kiddos.
On top of that, I’m extremely grateful for the friendships I’ve built with the sponsor for today’s post – the greater Phoenix area Kid to Kid and Uptown Phoenix stores. I’ve partnered with them multiple times throughout the year (for example, here and here) and still get excited when they ask if I’d like to do another post with them. I love that each store is individually owned and franchised. Almost all the owners have children of their own and each purchase supports local family businesses.
For those of you who don’t know by now, Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate are resale stores that sell designer clothing and accessories. As you can guess, Kid to Kid focuses on babies and kids and then Uptown Cheapskate takes over for the teens through adulthood. Dress your kids and yourself for the holidays then buy some gifts at a crazy discount while you are at it. This is my kind of one-stop shopping for the entire family.
This week, I stopped by a local Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate store to do a little shopping holiday shopping for my family. We started with the Kid to Kid store in Paradise Valley because let’s be honest, the kids come first. The store is packed with new and gently used clothes, shoes, toys, and baby gear. The kids ran straight to the kids play area, which was AMAZING because it gave me a few minutes to look around without whining and complaining. Both kids made a friend in the play area and were begging to stay after I paid for my purchases.
Of course my kiddos didn’t stop asking me for toys. I explained that Santa will decide how good they are over the next month and a half and we will see what they get on Christmas Day. However, I’m pretty confident Santa outsources some of his elf-work to Kid to Kid. They have all kinds of new and gently used toys which are sold at prices much lower than other big box stores. All Santas around town, take note.
On this particular day, I was hunting for cold weather clothes. Living in AZ, I receive countless texts each winter season from friends asking to borrow coats, snow pants and gloves. Since no one needs them for more than a few days visit to Flagstaff or other cold weather destinations, no one owns them. Kid to Kid is the perfect place to buy this kind of stuff and avoid paying full price. I snagged both kids a pair of gloves and found a pair of snow pants for Carter.
Also, I found a school outfit and holiday sweaters for each kid, as well as a pair of holiday jammies for each kid. I LOVE holiday pajamas, especially when they only cost $3 for the set. The total for all this stuff was right around $75. Score.
I was also able to sneak away for a few minutes and do a little solo shopping at Uptown Cheapskate in Scottsdale. Moms out there understand how nice it is to shop alone. I leisurely browsed the racks, tried stuff on and actually focused on what I was doing. I found all kinds of cute displays with on-trend items, rack and racks of designer shoes, loads of Lululemon, and awesome gift ideas like Kendra Scott jewelry and Ray-Ban sunglasses.
On this particular day, I actually was looking for a few men’s items for my hubby. He’s one of those who only buys clothes when he needs to, and let’s just say his wardrobe could use a few new options. I found him a plain black Lululemon workout shirt that Santa will be gifting him for Christmas (shhhh!!) and this super cute slim fit plaid shirt. Perfect for work or just about anything in between.
I’ll admit, this photo above had to be included in the post one way or the other. My dog totally photobombed the shot which is still making me laugh However, you can get a nice view of my husband’s Original Penguin shirt.
And just because I was shopping alone, it only felt right to try on a few things for myself. I always love seeing fitting room try-on sessions so here are a couple of the items I found.
I absolutely loved this green plaid shirt dress, but it was a tad too long for me in the back. Super cute color, though!
This lace top was pretty darn adorable. I don’t have anywhere fancy to wear it in the coming months, so back on the rack it went. I was attempting to be somewhat practical on this particular day.
This black dress from Express with crochet details was absolutely adorable. However, it was a tad short on me. Onto the next one.
I loved this soft plaid knit sweater, but I found another one I liked just a tad bit more that ended up coming home with me. How cute is the black and white knit sweater in the photos below?
As you can guess, all the local Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate stores are having big Black Friday and Shop Local Saturday sales going on this weekend. Sales do vary by store so definitely give your local store a call to see what kind of awesome promos they have going on. Some of the locations, like Scottsdale, have both stores right next door to each other, making them the perfect one-stop holiday shopping destination. Dress your family and buy a few gifts while you are at it.
With that being said, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from my family to yours.
