You guys know I love color. Bright colors and patterns typically call my name. However, I totally have my days where I want to wear more neutral tones. Basics are a good thing for all of us, plus it gives me a good excuse to wear my brightly colored accessories.
I was looking at photos from a few recent outfits and noticed a bunch of them were made up of black and white pieces. This was completely unintentional, although it had the makings of a good blog post. I decided to link up with The Pleated Poppy today for a black and white version of What I Wore Wednesday. So let’s get to it with the black and white (plus a couple pops of color mixed in, let’s be honest).

This black and white striped maxi is my new favorite comfy dress. I crave cotton dresses like this because they are just so dang easy to wear. I styled this one with a big ole red tassel necklace, but simple dainty accessories would work just fine as well. The best news – this dress is on sale for only $13. The website says it is blue, but I swear mine looks black in person.
Other outfit details: sandals are from Shoes of Prey, clutch is from Lila’s Beauty Bag and my necklace was about $2, purchased in Bali (similar here).
I’m absolutely in love with this embroidered cold shoulder blouse, especially paired with these black distressed denim shorts (both C/O Romwe). I recently wore this outfit on our trip to Vancouver where we went to explore the Capilano Suspension Bridge. These were seriously the coolest bridges made through the tree tops of the rain forest. This little tourist attraction has been around since 1890 and is located about 15 minutes outside of downtown Vancouver. Such a cool experience.
The blouse is a one-size-fits-all and I’d say it runs somewhere between a small and a medium. I had to do a little half-tuck into my shorts given the length, but otherwise this top had a perfect slouchy fit. My shorts have a nice stretch to them and were super comfy, although they do run small so make sure to look at the size chart. I ordered a medium and I usually wear around a size 2 or a 25/26, so definitely size up.

One of my favorite parts about packing for my trip to Vancouver was JEANS. It was cool in the evenings so I was excited to try out my new distressed denim by Mott and Bow. It might not be time for jeans in Arizona anytime soon, but you’ll be seeing a ton more of these in the fall.
My eyelet one shoulder top is on sale for right around $22 (the grey color is only $12!!). Similar bag here and similar wedges here.
See, I told you I’ve been wearing a ton of black and white lately!! My jeans and silk cami are both from Yummie by Heather Thomson. Any Housewives fans out there? Well, good old Heather was a Real Housewife of New York who built the Yummie brand. She quit the show a few years back to expand her business. I’d say it was a good choice on her part because she built something amazing. As a unrelated side note, I never could get into the Real Housewives of NY, but I’m totally guilty of loving the OC, Beverly Hills and New Jersey.
Other outfit details: sunglasses are by DIFF, necklace is from Stella and Dot, similar clutch here and Via Spiga wedges (similar here).

Thanks Pamela. Great neutral options for summer.
I love black and white in the summer! Especially with a pop of color, like that gorgeous blue bag 🙂
Isn’t that bag so much fun!? Thanks for checking out my post.
Guilty of black all summer long! Can’t kick that neutral even in the hot months- that maxi looks so comfy!
I love this maxi and can’t believe it is only $13. Nothing wrong with black in summer!
