Before I get going about today’s awesome outfit, has everyone been following me on Instagram (@thesensibleshopaholic)? I’ve been posting outfit pictures more regularly and actually keeping up with the account. It’s good stuff, I promise!!
Speaking of Instagram, I have a blogger confession. I love writing, I love shopping, and I love sharing my bargains, but I really, really hate taking pictures of myself. I’m always the awkward one in photos and never feel natural in front of the camera. I’m starting to realize that if I want to do anything with this blog, I’ve gotta get over that so everyone can see the cute stuff I find and how it looks like on a real human instead of just a 5’10”, 100 lb model. I’m going to do my best to start taking better pictures and sharing them on this site. Here’s to me putting myself outside my comfort zone {insert pat on my own back}.
I dug out the “good” camera and bribed a photographer to take a few pics for me. Now mind you, my photographer is 4 years old, has red hair and will do just about anything for fruit snacks or a few extra minutes on the iPad. Some cropping and filters were required, but I suppose these pictures aren’t too bad for my first “real” blogger photo shoot. One day I’ll get my hubby to take some actual pictures for me, but I find I rarely see him during daylight hours (we all know how nighttime pics turn out). I’ll get there eventually.
Now for the outfit deals. Isn’t this short sleeve fringe sweater adorable? I found it on sale at H&M for $20 and I kind of feel like it is the perfect top for the first day of fall in Arizona. It is still really hot here during the day and I can’t imagine throwing on anything heavy, but this makes me feel like I’m wearing a sweater. Warning: this top runs crazy small. There is no stretch to the sweater at all and I ended up buying an 8. I usually wear an x-small or the occasional small, so make sure to size up.
My favorite jeans are the Joe’s curvy honey skinny jeans, which are currently on sale at Nordstrom. They run true to size and are the perfect dark wash. I’m also wearing my new open toe sling-back booties, my Kendra Scott “aiden” necklace in rose gold, and my favorite Tory Burch tote (similar here).
What do you guys think? Should I try to take more pictures like these or are the store stock photos alright?
